Similar with eggs. Unless they've been washed, which removes their natural protective coating. Americans wash and refrigerate. Kiwi's store them on shelves - in the supermarket they are on shelves, not refrigerated.

So true. We have chickens. We never put eggs in the fridge. Yes, don’t wash the protective coat off :)
