Theyโ€™re so pretty! Iโ€™ve only seen white before.

I am fond of much color, and I petitioned nostr:npub1uense4apn73tvh4u20tzlp6u72g4kdustzsm0k0sqy6yuwh5jxlsy97y76 to please let there be color in our apiaries. It is said that bees only see certain colors, but do see patterns, so the many color variations may help them recognize their hive from distances. That said, they identify home from recognition of the sunโ€™s position relative to the hive and other bio markers like pheromones, etc.

These days, we leave the wood natural, and dip the boxes in hot beeswax to protect and seal the wooden ware for longer life.
