I dislike github as a discussion type forum. Its another silo I have to worry about emails from. Its annoying, and interaction from me is slow. Slack and others figured this out. Id rather be on a mailing list than an issue chain on github.
that being said, there are formalities that are in place for a reason. On nostr we can have informal discussions, but they are rarely seen by all working devs. I have to assume there are 1000s or maybe 10,000s of developers playing around on nostr, maybe even building new projects, but their discussions are private or undiscoverable, and likely on a big-tech silo.
Groups/communities are like my no1 thing I wish could function better on nostr. I'm a community guy, I like interacting with all of you guys focusing on meaningful chats, especially about a topic. I only used facebook for groups, it's how the old company initially scaled, it's how I got my previous job.
I'm also kind of interested in regular chats, like nostr nests for noob devs that want to share their project or ask questions
