Even though even item in the store had them, and this is a fairly recent initiative, the URLs seem to be broken:

If the blockchain allowed you to register your ownership, or contained details about where the item was supposed to have been sold, it'd do something valuable. If the NFC tag contained a private key that'd help too.
But all those things are more expensive and worse UI than fake “validation”…
