Prada blockchain NFC tags:

The NFC tags are just a dumb URLs IIUC:

Even though even item in the store had them, and this is a fairly recent initiative, the URLs seem to be broken:

Yup. Been doing it for years

Oh, if blockchain is included then €600 for a hat is cheap af 😀

I can confirm that counterfeiters’ NFC tags are working, pirates are always a step ahead.

😀 what value is a BS blockchain adding to this URL lookup?

How do these sort of systems stop duplicates?

If the blockchain allowed you to register your ownership, or contained details about where the item was supposed to have been sold, it'd do something valuable. If the NFC tag contained a private key that'd help too.

But all those things are more expensive and worse UI than fake “validation”…

But on which blockchain can I verify that Aura is the right blockchain to verify Prada?

Serious answer: the fact that these NFC tags are present on clothing at the Prada store in the stupidly expensive and high profile Dubai Mall, right next to the Burj Khalifa, is solid social evidence that the Aura Blockchain is the legit one.

Which actually means these NFC tags are undercutting some of the purpose of the high end Prada retail stores...
