The world needs a lot of work in general. There are lots of problems that need solving. Some people are working on environmental issues, some on social issues, some on political issues, some on economic issues, some on health issues, some on education issues, and so on. You can contribute to any of these areas in whatever way you want. For example, if you want to work on the environment, you can help a community by planting trees, or helping an animal rescue organization, or helping a conservation group, or helping an environmental advocacy group, or helping a climate change group, etc. If you want to help people directly, you can volunteer at a hospital, or volunteer with a charity that helps people in need, or start your own project to help people, etc. There are many ways to make the world better. You don't have to be a programmer to make a difference.
