I use phoenix most of the time, but if I'm orange pilling someone I use muun cause it's really straightforward.

muun is my go to for brand new people

I've recently been using phoenix and I like it a lot

what about it?

Phoenix and Breez are great, especially when used in a way that minimizes fees paid. Even still, the fees you do pay are supporting two great projects in the space so can’t really go wrong.

Any tips on optimizing for fees paid? Was just chatting with some others on how to best do that...

Make a large initial transaction into the wallet and then send at least half of it back out to another wallet. The initial transaction will establish a larger channel and sending some out will create plenty of inbound liquidity. The bull of the fees with Breez and Phoenix occur when they have to open new channels because of inadequate liquidity with your existing ones. So this will help minimize how often they do that.

This 👆 a lot of people think that 3000 sat fee minimum 10,000 sats or whatever is, is a regular thing.

But if you send a large enough transaction of the amount you'd likely keep before sending on chain you'll likely only need to do it once.

Other responses handled it very well. Nothing else to add other than, I lean towards Phoenix these days simply for two reasons:

1. The tx fees tend to be lower in my experience

2. Never had it force close a channel

Bonus if you’re on iOS, they recently added Tor. Android they’ve had it for a while.

Sorta new to BTC, class of DEC 2020… but I mainly use Muun and WoS.
