One point that was driven home over and over again in every OPSEC briefing that I ever had in the military was that "nations do not have allies, they have interests."

Why should the USA support Israel? What does the tiny, far away nation of Israel have to offer us in exchange for that support?

I would consider USA Israel an honest friendship with massive implications.

Intel didn't invest in a new fab there for no reason.

My immediate thought is that it’s just a good way to control and monitor what’s happening in the Middle East. Like a proxy country but also one that you can funnel money through for wars and weapons.
