You can eat whatever you want if you lift. The whole reason steroids are a thing is because these guys can’t fit more food in their stomach to make bigger muscles, they cap out.

If you just do three sets of push-ups and squats every other day, you can probably go 3500 calories and LOSE weight

Think it really depends on the person. I've always had a slow metabolism. The only time I've been fit was in my 20s roofing 12 hours a day.
