Hard to cross oceans and even harder with a massive blockade.

Probably fine to cut down on some. Keep the strategic ones and have a mobilization strategy that does not rely on permanent bases.

I’d guess this is why he wants Greenland. If I remember correctly it is part of the early warning mechanism in case of nuclear attack from Russia

Yeah but it’ll all be for nothing. There’s no tech to stop an attack. Even with whatever plan he has for air defense…
