It’s certainly worth doing to be self sovereign on the lightning network if you have the time and resources.

I think it’s important to understand a few things going in, which I think everyone can agree with.

1) If you don’t have sats to spare, you probably shouldn’t do this.

2) It’s going to take a good amount of time and money to have “profitable” channels, if that is your main goal.

3) If you’re just starting as a pleb node runner it’s somewhat analogous to home mining, in that, arguably your first goal might be simply to strengthen the network.

4) You can easily stack way more sats on nostr by posting funny memes with orders of magnitude lesser effort and financial outlay.
