In broad strokes, I agree.
In Europe, wine culture was sufficiently ingrained through the millenia to fight off the race to zero from this fiat interregnum. Wine in the USA only really entered the world stage at the same time as fiat.
There is way more shit wine in the USA, but there is definitely good wine too.

I'm 100% sure you'd find a great white wine or some good reds too, but craftsmanship and honing in on barreling and stowage and that just takes time.
