I’ve found the following to be extremely beneficial.

1. Engage more than write Notes (ie comment and ask questions on others)

2. Follow back those who follow you

3. When you find yourself commenting on another’s note or reply, visit their profile and skim their content and bio…if you like what you see

a. Follow them

b. Love bomb a few of their notes

c. Zap a few of their notes and replies

4. Only use WOT relays

5. Find a ubiquitous client, I settled on @yakihonne as my primary and nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg as my backup / zap hot wallet

(YakiHonne did just integrate a native wallet that I will probably convert to, thus consolidating functions to a single client)

6. Ask permission to DM people you’d really like to connect with and then build a relationship with them
