Heres a shoutout/question to all those freedom techies (is that how you spell it?) out there:

For over a decade now I am using Linux on my computer and for about 7 years I am using a "custom OS" on my phone...And...Sometimes I really question myselfy whether there is something masochistic about it....because...I sometimes miss the sleek design and functionality of AppleOS and man, on my phone, I cant take proper 2024-style photos because big corp. seems to put special emphasis on making the camera drivers closed source.

I am truly curious: WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO ABOUT IT?

I'd love to hear from 100+ people :-)

So, here I try a nostr-thing: I'll zap the first 21 replies :-)))

It is harder. Just remember why you're doing it.

For me, I remind myself of how manipulative and fascistic big tech really is.

That the data they collect could be a threat to life and liberty.

In some cases, it already is.

I agree! That is the reason I am doing it. And there is another thing I have noticed: I seem to have developed a kind of immune system - I literally couldnt go for the big tech option, when I tried in the past.

Natural immunity against big tech - an evolutionary advantage in this day and age. Gm.

I can take good pictures with GrapheneOS + Google's App

The solution I use is having a wife with regular Google Pixel🤣

If they can't spy on everything you do, you're less likely to end up with a digital twin they can experiment on to control you.

Though I worry that most SoC/mainboard firmware is compromised, it's probably not being used at scale to avoid detection.

The new AI hardware they're shipping in consumer devices are probably capable of total surveillance in realtime to feed the digital twin.
