How is it that the founder of Telegram has said "TG doesn't make me any money", yet it's banded around as a $30 billion usd company

That doesn't make sense...

He refers to the fact that it does'nt pay the bills. He's not selling any stocks and live off its bitcoin stack

But if it doesn’t pay the bills, it’s unprofitable, so how is it worth 30bil?

Good question, what are telegram revenues and how does it justifies a 30 billions valuation, I don’t know, I don’t use the app even, does it has a paying options? Ads?

Seems like it’s becoming a good business

I suspect he is just another made man working for the parasite class and he knows that his ‘wealth’ is not his….🤷🏼‍♂️

Could well be the case

They have a coin and some ad revenue. My guess is that that’s where the $30b is derived

Good guess. But then why as the CEO founder would you claim “it doesn’t pay the bills” yet still see valuations of 30 billion?

I think we can say it’s deceptive Fiat math I guess, like how Uber was making a ton of money in revenue but still making huge losses. I believe Durov mentioned in his first interview with Tucker, that they had gotten some PE loans or a LOC, I am hazy on the specifics and that coupled with the altcoin and ad revenue was how they kept the lights on. The deceptive part is probably about throwing off the powers that be & competitors. My own speculation and definitely could be wrong

If it's free, you're likely the product.

Ad revenue only brings in so much coin.

I get that as the user. But of the founder claims it’s not a money making exercise, how the hell can it be 1) profitable and 2) valued at 30 billion!

Yeah - I've thought similar before. As an admin of an open group, the platform seems to be a hub for scammers, impersonators, sex workers & drug dealers. This type of user seems to be easily created & then sent off to fish for gullible users. On a centralised platform this kind of activity should be relatively easy to stamp out, but it's not. I know of several users who've been scammed by impersonators over the years.

I can only assume there's a way to pay to easily create "worker" accounts.

There's also a strong incentive to quietly sell user or chat data to third parties.

It's only a matter of time before I walk away from all the telegram groups I'm in. I really dislike it.

It’s interesting as well when you see someone who was going to Bitcoin and clearly believes in the philosophy of Bitcoin yet is happy to run a company which is exploiting its users

Of course it is always the users choice what they do, so if you don’t like it, leave

But it’s typical of this “ come with me I’m more private” yet they’re actually taking your information on the back end and selling it

Grok - if you believe it - suggest 2bil in revenue for 2025 👀
