Hey all, is anyone aware of a workaround to be able to connect a lightning wallet to my primal app living in NY? I want to send and receive. NY does not allow any custodial wallets. So primal native is out of the question. I don’t run my own node. Which could be an option in the future. I think I could use Alby cloud hosted lightning wallet but I’m not sure. Help is appreciated!

During wallet setup - VPN, email alias, Alias for name.

1. Contact your dumbass legislators, tell them how annoying this is. Do it. And register for the primaries so you can follow through. https://myreps.datamade.us/

2. Use a non-custodial wallet like Zeus. Gives you a lightning address to receive zaps with, and you can zap others too.

Thanks for the reply, I just checked out Zeus, bit of a learning curve for me. Is it normal to have to lock up 150,000 sats for an open channel and 100,000 minimum for an inbound channel? Seems like a lot for zapping 21 sats at a time

100,000 seems high, I remember being able to get started with like $5. You may be in the "purchase channel" section, Instead just go to lightning -> receive and it will say "blah blah there's a setup fee" but you can do it for much smaller amounts. The fee should be something like $1, not $100.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but that's the price for self-custody right now unfortunately.

No, 100k isn't the fee, it's the inbound channel capacity. It's probably going to cost about 7k-10k sats for that inbound channel.

Yeah you don't need to buy a massive inbound channel. The only reason to do that is if you expect to be receiving significantly more than you spend. In which case boltz.exchange or other solutions to empty your channels are a better deal.

I bought the 500k inbound channel for 15k sats, and sent 200k sats to the channel giving me 200k outbound capacity against a remaining 300k inbound. That's been pretty solid for me. It's been running great for the past two and a half months.

Try ‘Purchase inbound channel’ on the channels list view for cheaper chans. Pricing starts at about 7-8k

100k minimum for an inbound channel is actually a lot less than most providers require. I run my own node and the minimum was a 500k inbound channel. Once you purchase the inbound channel, just transfer 100k or more sats to your node and it will be available as outbound capacity. The only actual expense is the fee for the inbound channel, about 15k sats last I looked, although it may be less for a channel with only 100k capacity.
