all the other stoics applaud you. but, not actually, because they’re stoic and stuff.

I'm not Stoic at all. I love Epictetus and his ideas. He is an inspiring guy. Nonetheless, try Chekhov's 'Ward No6' for a short story that explains why the Stoics are wrong: they have no heart. We are not catatonic statues, impervious to pain or pleasure, nor should we be. This really is a fantastic (and short) story.

Apparently, the scope of stoicism goes beyond just “focus on what you can control” :P

I find the focus of stoicism to be 'grin n bear it', which is good advice.

Diogenes lived in a water barrell in Athens. He wouldn't have done so in St Petersburg, as be would have ftozen to death in the first winter.

My main argument againat the Stoics would be that it exalts suicide. Suicide is weak-minded

This is a nice and more complete resource about stoicism.

At the end, stoicism is a philosophy that combines bunch of individual scripts and the work from Aurelius :)

It’s up to you to adopt what you like about the philosophy and ignore what you don’t :)

I wrote an extremely short summary about it on my book Unstable Innovation, too :)

I enjoyed all the Stoics. Here's an old video of me discussing a few of them 😃

Thank you, Dave! I’ll watch and subscribe!

Don't sub to me on YouTube - I hate it there, and I've been there far too long. Nostr is my home now. Thanks for following!

I’m following here and there :) Awesome to hear that NOSTR is your home now :)

Is applying this ‘sorta stoic’ mindset essentially just saying ‘que sera sera’ to everything? 🤔

There’s a book that I liked a lot called “The little book of Stoicism” by Salzgeber :)

I've been speed reading stoic wisdom quotes while my coffee brews... I am at least 10% more stoic in just one week.
