For some languages, like Japanese, I think DeepL may be slightly better. Spanish and Chinese seem to be really great with AWS.

Soon-ish will be adding alternatives to AWS, but need to get a few other features working first.

noticed it fails to translate japanese sometimes, but overall I’ve been happy with it. Thank you!

I’ve seen that too and I’m not sure it isn’t a damus issue - could you verify that the request gets sent to our api, also happens with posts that seem to start with an English word or two and then the rest is in a foreign language

Might be… does this translate ? nostr:note1hfcwmkv9649jgkf563j8vzcr6r75tvusuncp7mcgzcf8g8zg4mxqwkmka5

Away from my computer at the moment but I’ll check to see if this came through soon

Translation on that note works for me on NoKYC and DeepL. Retries aren’t implemented so it’s possible that any network or connection blip could cause the translation request to fail, and then it perpetuates the failure due to caching. We could add a single retry to mitigate this kind of problem potentially.

How mama though?

😉

🤷‍♂️

Good idea.
