It's annoying to me that the US Army Corps of Engineers updates Facebook on the status of the launches at our lake instead of their website. This is all part of a larger problem.

Strange. But then again, so many businesses don’t have websites but do have fb pages. But for an agency, that’s really weird.

I get it. It's fast and easy and allows them to communicate with the masses with ease. I just don't like the trend.

Agree

I rage when I'm trying to find something and all I come across is a link to a fb page. Our school district is bad about this.

Our school district too, even though they have a comprehensive website.

Lame.

Where I live, local first responders also post updates to Facebook. But the page is only available if you have a Facebook account. To top it off, they do make a Twitter post, linking to the Facebook page.

Many failures.

I'm realizing that I need a dedicated firewall/router and wifi AP to manage traffic to the services I want to host at home. The old heads give me a resounding "DUH!" for just now coming to that conclusion. They used to just have this stuff and set it up by default so they could run their website or whatever from home.

But I'm learning.

So I'm a little ahead of today's curve on self-management, yet still behind yesterday's.

How far behind is everyone else? They are and will be under complete control, maybe forever.

A larger problem indeed.

Hosting a website is still too much work...

Sign Things And Relay Them

Yeah, my local police implemented their 10 most wanted list as a...Instagram page. 🤦‍♂️

Ugh.
