Nostr Web Client

**Attention new plebs that joined Nostr this evening:**

While you're trying out new clients, don't just go and enter your private key everywhere. This is like the private key for your bitcoin. You want to keep it safe.

There are extensions that can help with this. Either [nos2x](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nos2x/kpgefcfmnafjgpblomihpgmejjdanjjp) or [GetAlby](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/alby-bitcoin-lightning-wa/iokeahhehimjnekafflcihljlcjccdbe).

Once you have these installed, visit metadata.nostr.com and setup your profile picture and your name.

When you're ready to setup your NIP-05 ID, you can either do this yourself or use the service that #[0] and I setup. Visit nostrplebs.com to learn more.

Can you explain how to use private key w Alby? Do you generate a private key there, or input the PK provided by Damus upon sign up? I tried both and neither seem to work…

i use nos2x but i believe they are meant to be a key chain to help you sign in to other clients easier. you should be able to sign in with your PK to other nostr clients

Is generating a private key from the Damus app on my iPhone (and used through Alby elsewhere) considered safe? Or is there now some central Damus server that now knows my private key?

Does nos2x need the hex key or the nsec one ? It doesn’t appear to do anything with a few test keys.

Do you know who runs Nostr.rocks? External signers are not working or buggy there.. and I did like that interface for web apps

I do not. They are all buggy. Coracle doesn't work for me at all. Astral crashes my browser a dozen times a day.

Yes, but for me the only one working consistently was Nostr.rocks but it doesn’t work well with those signers so I stopped using it and I’m hopping that gets fixed

I wish coracle worked better. The UI is really pretty. I don't think it has DM features though? I couldn't find that.

I also like coracle's UI but it's just not working for me... so I can't use it. I also want a version that combines "cannels" with twitter style so I don't need to jump to anigma for channels

The method was not working for me yesterday with Alby. Do I need to fill in the NIP-05 for it to update on metadata.nostr.com?

Wasn’t working for me either. Did you generate a PK with alby? Or did you enter your PK in Alby with your PK provided by Damus?

I tried that too and on metadata.nostr my console threw an error related to getting the hex. Was also throwing all kinds of web socket errors.

Figured it out. Need to convert to nsec key to hex using damus.io/key
