No these transformers are just needed at electrical substations to step transmission voltages (as much as 345,000V) or sub transmission voltage (69,000V for example) down to distribution voltages (13,800V) so that power can be sent to pole transformers or box transformers which further step down the voltage to 220 and 440 volts for industrial use and from 120 to 240 volts for commercial and residential use.
At megawatt scale mining what is being used to grab power from the grid and get it to the machines?
