Interesting. SQL might have been invented a long time ago but itā€™s pretty mainstream today.

In my own estimation, about 80% of software projects use SQL, and the rest is divided between NoSQL and other exotic datastores that donā€™t conform to either.

That's because of optimisation & using the most common API, not because it's so great.

If databases weren't all about optimisation, nobody would ever use raw #SQL, especially without some ORM.
