GM!
I had work like this once. Every day was a new adventure. I was working on a startup with my best long time friend taking proprietary game changing technology into a lucrative contract market. Travelling North America. Staying in cool locations. Wowing customers. Doing lots of fun stuff after hours. Eating like kings. Decent pay and the promise of fat bonuses. And despite it being employment income, it was still good enough and the perks and work itself made it really fun. Brent and I took this company from incorporation to profitability in 18 months and had an achieved a 100% win rate in a profitable contract market in the southern States. We were both only weeks from receiving significant negotiated bonuses and the owners we had built the companies for dismissed the startup team and moved the office to Texas with a “thanks, we’ll take it from here.” The moral of the story: You will never be given a place at the table no matter how much passion you put into someone else’s venture. Build your own thing if you can.
