When you’re low status, barely anyone will listen.

When you’re high status, everyone will listen but for the wrongs reasons… focused on who you are and what you will do with what you’re saying, instead of just listening intently to the raw ideas.

The scarcity of free thought exists for all classes. It can’t be bought with fame or money, just as true friends cannot be.

The people you can talk to who’ll listen and explore an idea for what it is, not letting who you are have an impact on the interpretation of the ideas, are worthwhile companions.

This is the beauty of people who enjoy philosophical musings and a wandering imagination, even if those qualities don’t immediately lead to anything useful. Ironically, those qualities can lead to the most useful inventions and journeys in the long-term. Probably because they help cater to falling in love with the process/journey rather than only seeking the result/destination.

I like Alfred North Whitehead's take: "The silly question is the first intimation of some totally new development."
