I'm very sorry to hear that man. This lifestyle is definitely tougher than normal, but hardship makes us tougher. I don't think my chicken setup works for this cold, I'm hopeful everyone will survive but it still give me massive anxiety that I have a weeks worth of subzero (F) temps to deal with. Solidarity my friend.

I’m in a similar boat. I read chickens will do okay down to -20 as long as they are dry and out of the wind. This is a learning process though. I never had any family to teach me this lifestyle so it’s all trial and error. Hope your hens make it fine. Lucky our power is back on. We’ll see how long it lasts.

I WISH family taught me any of this shit. It seems like most people around here have no advise about this weather besides put them in a barn. Which to me is also unacceptable. My coop is ghetto as fuck, but I only have 10 birds becuase I'm prototyping a coop build that a child can move. They're coop is open to the south, but next year I'll be on the third iteration of this coop and I know I will keep it light enough but also get the draftyness, less for the wind and more for the driving snow.
