As the child of two people who drink this much whiskey every week, I can assure you it’s not the right way to do things

Is not about how much you drink. Is about if you know your limits and your behavior do not affect the others.

I drink sometimes a couple of beers with colleagues.

Let me know when you reach the B-Komplex level

Tell me you don’t know anything about alcoholism without telling me you don’t know anything about alcoholism

You are confusing alcoholism with drinking. Is not the same.

Going back to the original post, 1.7 bottles of whiskey per week is 4+ drinks every single day… i.e. alcoholism

Wrong. Alcoholism is not measured by how many drinks you have in a certain time.

One man could handle a barrel / day but some others cannot handle not even 1 glass of wine per day.

Again, tell me you haven’t experienced alcoholism up close without telling me you haven’t experienced alcoholism up close

“Some people can manage their self-destruction better than others”

Also the way north american media portrays alcohol consumption is ridiculous. Very fiat. Same as the drinking in public laws. All of this does nothing other than encourage the worst behaviors.
