I reserve the right to change my mind.

Government can never do anything for you, it can only destroy value.

It's at a point now where it's almost impossible for me to use the "regular" internet. I can't access half the sites. The reason? I care about my digital hygiene and thus use a VPN. Sometimes switching to a different VPN or switching the country of the VPN works; other times it does not. Oh well, I guess I'm not going to watch that video, or read that article, or look at that picture. Whatever.

In addition to that, if I'm not blocked completely, I have to prove that I'm human every step of the way. Captchas, re-captchas, Cloudflare checkboxes, the whole shebang. I am human. I promise. And I am very annoyed. Outright angry, even. I doubt that any robot will ever be as annoyed as I am right now about the current state of the internet.

What annoys me most, actually, is that all these measures don't really work. There's bots everywhere. Robots get access to the stuff anyway, using farms of humans, just like in the good old days of WoW gold farming. The centralized "safety" nets of Cloudflare et al brought down large swaths of the internet multiple times in the last couple of weeks alone, and as things centralize more and more these outages will happen more and more.

I'm very close to breaking up with the legacy internet. I'm human, I can cryptographically prove that I'm human, and I have sats to spend. But the legacy internet doesn't care about that. It cares about farming me and my data, while annoying me to no end. I've been nostr only for a while now, but that was only on the "social media" side. 2026 might be the year where I go nostr-only for everything, or to phrase it slightly differently: permissionless for everything.

No more "are you human?"

No more "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

No more cookie banners, paywalls, and AI slop.

No more being treated like a child.

Even if it means that I'll have to self-host everything.

Even if it means that I'll have to build & maintain stuff myself.

Even if it means that it's a lot of work and pain.

Nothing worth having ever comes easy.

But the easy stuff is not worth having in the first place.

Here's to the year to come, and the new corner of the internet, build on cryptography and webs-of-trust. Real value. Real connections. Real humans.

Here's to nostr.

They can keep their walled garden mano crop factory farms, important ideas will never flourish there anyway. They spray for them.

Corrupt corrupting corrupted corruption.

Corrupt individuals corrupting a corrupted corruption system.

Productivity gains returning to the consumer? No reason to save fiat moneys?

Judge by his actions.

There is a chance he has understood the jeff booth version of bitcoins future, the coming productivity explosion, abundance all around after we cross this valley.

I have not seen him take any actions that would put bitcoin or related technology in jeopardy, including nostr. From a distance it looks like he cracks open doors far before we need the enter. He clearly bought twitter to manipulate narratives. Look at the most recent, automatically revealing people's account location. He gets to have plausible deniability at the same time bad actors worldwide.

His products on the other hand are very centralizing, star link tesla and now always online humanoid robots. Maybe these are a result of how to be profitable in the fiat system?

He clearly has long term goals, most publicly stated but generally i believe he hides behind the truth.

I would say %46 - %48 good, based solely on his subtle conveniently timed overton actions. He would prefer this estimate to be a safe %50.

Good being anything contributing to the long term robustness of our species, more decentralization, property rights, freedom of information flows.

You're right! He is definitely not a nikola tesla.

How much toast could your toaster toast if your toaster could toast toast?

Bitcoin is already monetizing energy production but to survive bitcoin will monetize it's transmission network (internet access).

The question is with time does this result in a single centralized mining/internet service provider?

Or is bitcoins self preservation incentives a force that will decentralize mining and internet access?

It seems we will never have a free and open internet until we can link the thing to a physical cost.

It is confusing to see anti state libertarian people adamantly pro organized religion. It's as if you extend logic and reason until a certain point, and refuse to apply it evenly.

I see no positive outcomes from these collectivist groups. They supply all the same, frameworks for the parasitic inclined to manipulate and destroy. Internally granting any convenient excuse to outsource personal responsibility.

What is the maximum size a company will reach under a bitcoin standard? Is it larger than current day micro strategy? if so at least we will still have big bear markets in the future.

you can choose the change or the change will choose for you.

The value of a house has not gone up. Adjusted for the raw materials plus labour it has slightly decreased for same comparable house. The real story is wage deflation.

Probably Dune which represents strength through decentralization specifically god emperor of dune. Also good, foundations but it's the opposite, convergence of the singularity, centralization.

Possibly allows governments which yield a central bank to slowly fade back, allowing public servants to age out of positions instead of being terminated all at once.

Slowly transitions countries back to transparent taxation. As countries holding btc may not want to hinder btc usage in order to promote price growth.

Maybe there's two categories here, governments who can print their own currency and those who cannot.

Governments that print, can both tax and steal the spread between their desired inflation rate and deflation. They would have to give up majority of their power holding btc.

Governments that do not use their own currency and switch to operating on btc might gain some ratio/equivalent amount of taxation, as the tax base begins to see the effects of deflation. The population becomes wealthy in return the state gains a larger tax base who they can tax transparently, still theft....

The most important lessons in life cannot be taught. You must learn them first hand. You can't force someone to become a good person. They must choose, the best you can do is to supply a good role model.

The movie clip is a bit ridiculous the world is not black and white.

We can centralize our thought on decentralized protocols in times of need like an immune response when the threat is knowing. KYC is the threat.
