Someone is going to have to explain the Japanese obsession with avoiding the sun to me.
Discussion
IIRC its because lower class people had to work in the sun and were darker skinned. I think there are other Asian cultures with the same bias.
Wanting white skin. Also, it seems that many Japanese ladies think the sun damages their skin more than it does women from other ethnicities (causing brown spots with age). Right or wrong, I have no idea.
First part is definitely wrong. My wife said the same thing. Sad.
Common in east Asia. Many talk about class stuff but it's mainly just people being sensitive/mindful to things. They're the same people being extra careful to have insurance, take off their shoes entering a house, wear gloves washing dishes, etc etc. They value taking extremely good care of things, including themselves, basically.
