Yea it’s a win win- the plants/vines shade the tank in summer, and benefit from the thermal mass in winter. There are bananas in ground on the other side which is south facing, still alive after multiple hard freezes

Love the micro zone for the bananas. I showed my husband and we might do something similar for our IBC totes.

Yea I’m experimenting with them in pots and in ground. I had to cover the in ground ones (mostly the root zone) and potted ones came into the garage.

That's awesome they over wintered, even in the ground. A passive solar greenhouse is on our list of eventuallys too. We're zone 7 so won't attempt to grow anything "tropical" until the greenhouse is built.
