I don’t know if you’re making a biological argument here but there are support functions that people who choose not to (or can’t) reproduce confer towards relatives that can help propagate their highly similar (if not identical) genes. Survival isn’t just a free for all— as an example from the other end, the more kids people have the less attention and resources each gets and the less likely they are to succeed growing the next generation.
Discussion
True, but without enough people choosing to have children, society and culture can’t sustain themselves. Indirect genetic support only goes so far, long-term survival depends on those who actually reproduce and raise the next generation. They are the bedrock.
I generally agree, but other species take it to an extreme (bees) for example. Beyond just biology, I think many if not most people would find parenthood rewarding/fulfilling, and I do think there is excessive programming trying to discourage young people from starting families today, but I also would not want someone who absolutely does not want kids or have interest in doing the work to raise kids well end up having kids— puts the kid at high risk for a lot of bad situations.
Cultures don't need to be sustained. They should die regularly to preserve individuality.
