Is calyx still a solid option in you opinion?

Not really. Graphene has all the same usability with better security.

My impression was that Calyx just wants to de-google the phone, but graphene actually wants to advance AOSP security.

Graphene supports the Google Play Store & services (but without privileged access, they're as isolated as any other app), so IME it seems to have fewer tradeoffs as most apps don't complain. They actually recommend the play store over f-droid/obtainium for reasons that I... can't easily dismiss.

Either way, some apps simply won't work without a stock OS no matter how stupid & unnecessary that artificial constraint is. Banking apps mostly IME. Good reason to just opt out of all of that... 😏

I've been daily running GraphaneOs since the start of the year and its awesome! Would recommend for anyone interested to give it a try. I switched from iOS and I'm never going back!

This is the way!

Same here

I recently switched to it and would 100% recommend. Many times better than CalyxOS kon Calyx you can't even use paid apps)

My main app on GrapheneOS is Obtanium. I download almost 95% of the apps from there; unfortunately, if the APK is on an Onion address, it's not so easy.

Daily driver for the last three years. Very happy and there's something quite serene about the whole environment.
