I guess we would expect to see lots of exceptional adults who were homeschooled if it was a superior educational option, but generally don’t except for alternative sport stars and actors who were homeschooled simply so they could pursue their childhood professions.

I think that treating public schools like a monolithic thing shows a lack of imagination.

Most homeschooled children in the USA are kept out of the system because the parents want to indoctrinate their children with Christian beliefs that they fear are too weak to stand up against the dominate culture. This mostly explains why there are so few exceptional homeschooled adults. Christianity today is a far more intellectually limiting thing than the average public school.
