my last name is the russian word for those brooms made out of twigs btw. but my opa didn't stumble on that when he wrote a little booklet about the history of our family. no idea why. but that was like 20 years ago. i don't think there was google translate then.
also as you can see it's missing an N but in russian (and bulgarian) they don't often double consonants, where the dutch have this "closed syllable" rule that means doubling consonants or if there is no close, you can double the vowel to indicate the long form... a lot of people made crazy names in the 16th century when the dutch government forced everyone to declare a last name (not many people know this but it wasn't the norm until around that time).
i met this one dude whose name was "diepenbrook" which is pronounced "deepen broke" and means "deep pants"
maybe i'm reading too much into that weird looking version of something like my original nostr username and what appears at the end of my npub. but most muricans don't know that all those "W" in those polish looking names is pronounced same as germans. and false flag attack. like ... i mean, idk
