When we make broth on sheep bones I try to simmer for minimum 72 hours until bones are fragile and porous. Then I hammer the remains and feed it to the chickens.

Voir la. Nutrient cycle complete. Phosphorus and other minerals locked up in bones are returned to the land. And the chickens which are rotated on the pasture are happy.
