More scalable than lightning self custody, and more private and less chance of a rug pull than lightning custodial.

It's no different than custodial anything else though. Definitely no worse (and actually way better) than WOS etc.

If you don't want to run your own LN node, you're either using a custodian/LN-HUB that can see all your balances this makes it easier for people who choose to go custodial to have privacy since the mint is blind to what goes on.
