… but have never mastered the muscle up technique
First time I'll have to disagree with you. I'd put it closer to 1/3.
Muscle up is more technique and explosiveness but not that much more effort.
If you're over 200 lbs, probably need 15 strict pulls to get 1 muscle up. Or at least 10 explosive, or horizontal arms pulls.
People less than 180 can probably get by with 10 pulls or so.
