Yes, we considered it too, but removing features - even if they are substandard like our current DMs - is tough on the users. We demoted them from the main tab to the side menu in mobile apps, but removing them would be too much imho. The correct move is to upgrade them and deprecate the old ones over time.

Yeah, I feel you. The issue is that NIP-17 adds significant work to keep it going. It doesn't make much sense to add it if people are not using it.
