"That government is best which governs not at all; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have."

Thoreau hit the nail on the head so many times, what a guy. Walden helped me to look in the right direction, to rebel and to find conviction. It was when I found conviction that I also realized larping was necessary for Thoreau, because he lacked the spirit to fight. Thoreau squatted, had a poor diet choice based on fallacies and chose to live dirt poor to compromise for not complying to the system. I chose to play the game in stead, because it's a game, it can be won. I admire Thoreau, but hiding in the forest is not a solution. Building communities is.
I agree with everything you said.
Didn't know about his diet though. What was he eating?
His argument for a plant based diet was that a life stock only eat greens and are able sustain. What he didn't know was that cows and pigs have a very different digestive system. And that human diet requires compatible proteins that come from eating meat, eggs or dairy.
