So I guess I need to install a keyboard on graphene to have emojis?

Any recommendations?

What sorcery is this friend? -- ha!

Im using AnySoftKeyboard , its the best I could find but its taking some time to get used to

It feels much better than the default graphene one for sure

Use Gboard and disable network permissions on it.

☝️ This. But in the auto correct settings keep it at the stock keyboard AOSP auto correct is way better than Gboard without network access.

On the default keyboard, hold down on the enter button, it should show the emoji symbol, then release

OpenBoard is what I settled on, but there is also FlorisBoard.

Microsoft key board.... unfortunately

Florisboard

Well that if FOSS matters, or you can use GBoard with network and sensors permission revoked as many do.
