Everything that government has subsidized is what people can't afford. Everything government has left alone has actually decreased vs. inflation. it is almost like I don't know, government is the problem or something. 🤔

Think your bullshiting on new cars. Fucking $80k for a new truck is totally bullshit and I don't give a Fuck about lane sensors, back up cameras, fucking sound system and the like.
I agree with you, and noticed that this is an older chart. Here's the version published in March 2025. You'll see there's a definite tick up in car prices over the last few years.

And I'm spoiled as hell, since I bought my last new truck (2008 f150 xlt) at $23k Jan 2009 it was $35k on the sticker. I just sold it for $8500 with 140k on the odo. I want a new one and the best I've found for one is about $62 that's a 3/4 ton with a gas motor in the XLT package. Add $15k for the power stroke and the Lariat package.
Yeah, I've been pricing vehicles recently and it's rough. I'm driving a 2020 Subaru Outback with around 125k on the odometer and considering passing it on to my daughter when she gets her license. I guess if I do that, it may be the first time in 20 years I will have to finance a car.
Haven't had a vehicle payment in years as well. I was 🤏 close to pulling the trigger and I got my health insurance bill, it went from $250 to $1500 (was going to be $2400) so I switched to tricare retired reserve... 4 more yeas when I turn 60 it will be free.
Would all be tilted in a more upward direction if measured against a free market
Here's an updated version, which brings in the COVID nonsense. The whole pdf can be downloaded from https://humanprogress.org/time-pricing-and-mark-perrys-latest-chart-of-the-century/ and has some other interesting bits in it (did housing prices in average wage hours actually go down between 2000 and 2024?)

Toy price may be tanking, but that’s just a product of enshitification. A Lego set costs more than ever, there’s $999.99 Lego Death Stars for crying out loud. In 97, the biggest set was Pirate’s Pitfall and it retailed for $54.99! My parents said that set was too expensive, so we got the 19.99 set which was still a pretty cool Lego! This doesn’t even tell the true story, because for every person that buys the Lego Death Star, there’s thousands of people that can only afford silly putty from the $1.25 Tree. Even the dollar store doesn’t have dollar toys anymore, so the cheapest toys are up 25%, it’s just that’s all people can justify purchasing.
