the way someone explained it to me is:

#nostr is the #protocol like email is a protocol and there are different apps that use this protocol like gmail or outlook (&others). there is #amethyst and #primal (&others)

Primal is just another nostr app.

#smij uses amethyst on #android. I like it #best of the several I've tried.
