and still the clients don't support security with it at this point!
my personal crusade to make this work properly
I've been running my own email server for 30 years now, and expect to another 30 years.
Please, please, make email obsolete!
Email is the worst protocol to survive the early internet.
What are you using to do this?
Ive done it all. Started out with sendmail, moved to qmail after a few years, then courier, then exim and finally postfix with dovecot. Also administered a few microsoft exchange servers along the way.
lol
E-Mail has survived as long as it has because it is an open standard, and because it is federated. If anything can kill it, Nostr can. Don't expect it to be quick, though. Network effects are extremely powerful. The main reason everyone uses e-mail now is because everyone uses e-mail.
Sats based email is the way. Break the spammers.
Agree in theory. But in practice getting people to pay per email will be a huge challenge. How would you do it?
Email isn't free. Someone is already paying for it. And most people are receiving far more than they send today, so most of the payments would come from the companies sending emails. They are already paying a lot for email anyway.
Your right. Email isnt free.
2 things:
1) consumer email - its difficult to get people to pay for stuff that they have for free now. Not impossible but difficult.
2) commercial email - if companies are alresdy paying for email but spam is alive, then I'm not clear how changing the unit of account to pay in btc helps (unless people deeply understand future value of bitcoin)
To me its more about changing the whole system period. Universal Bitcoin unit of account would stop spam, but it would need to be NOT isolated to email.
I probably have a 10000:1 receive to send ratio. The people sending me all those emails are already paying for mass email services. It would be like receiving Bitcoin. It's similar to sending a letter. I don't pay postage as the recipient. And reducing spam would probably save everyone money in bandwidth, storage, time, etc.
Technically we make them pay
Yes, that's the best way to penalize and deter them in my opinion.
No more anonymous spammers
why does it state that the content might have changed?
