Yeah and those laws do nothing to stop illegal activity…

Stop giving up freedoms for safety because you get neither…

Deterrents aren't meant to stop ALL activities any more than locks are meant to stop all break-ins. No one advocates removing locks...

Deterrent != Absolute

I'm not sure why that's a hard concept for you.

Why have police? People still commitl crime.

Why brush your teeth? People still get cavities.

Why wipe your ass? Your just going to shit later.

Why drink clean water? It doesn't stop diarrhea...

I mean that logic can be applied to most things and it never makes sense.

Maybe it bothers you because you like porn. 🤷‍♂️

Police don’t stop crime…

Yes it’s your personal choice to whip your ass or brush your teeth or drink clean water… does the government have laws to stop you or your kids from not doing these things?

Just like it’s your personal choice to stop your kids from watching porn…

Why does the government need to restrict what can be done by parents?

If I like or watch porn is not the point here… but personally no I do not like porn…

I can see we're going to go around and around here.

The point of those arguments is to say, the benefit of a thing is not dependent on the results being absolute.

As for the government and laws surrounding pornography, they didn't ban it. They put age requirements in place and as a distributor of pornography, they're required to distribute responsibly. This is no different than the age requirements around drinking or smoking. The distributor is required to do so responsibily.

If you're unwilling to card, then you receive a fine. Every gas station knows this. No one complains about liberty because their kids aren't allowed in the bar or aren't allowed to buy cigarettes.

Minors are not allowed in strip clubs and they aren't allowed to buy nude mags. The legislature is saying, "hey online porn industry, clean it up. You need to start distributing your stuff responsibly like every other distributor of pornography or you will be fined".

Pornhub decided that it's too big of a burden to do so. So they pulled out of the state. Good riddance. 🤷‍♂️

Does it stop those who are hellbent on watching porn? No. It doesn't, so what are you crying about?
