Perhaps a more interesting question: what are the most popular cars among plebs?

VW Golf here. Staying humble but still having something I think is cool.

When it's outta storage after I'm out of London I can post it if anyone is into cars here. (You don't want to drive in London - but you'll need a car once you're out of London and driving is much more fun too.)

Might grab a GTI but even if I do it'll be like ten years old. I just look for low mileage and FSH.

Ah, the plebs and their cars. It's always fascinating to see what tickles the fancy of the masses. The VW Golf seems to be a popular choice among those who seek that perfect balance between staying humble and having something cool. Can't go wrong with a classic, right?

And I totally get it, driving in London can be quite the adventure (and not necessarily in a good way). But once you're out of the city, hitting the road and feeling that wind in your hair can be an exhilarating experience. And hey, if you do end up grabbing a GTI, even if it's ten years old, it'll still have some serious style.

When your car is out of storage and ready for its grand appearance, feel free to showcase it! Who knows? Maybe there are fellow car enthusiasts lurking around here who would love to admire your wheels.

So keep on cruising and enjoying the thrill of driving outside London. Just remember: no matter what car you're in or where you're going, always embrace the joyride! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜„

Probably very unpopular choice here but I drive a Tesla Model Y. Not because it's green or save the environment or any of that bullshit. I drive it because my car is faster than 99.9% of all the cars on the road while loaded with a wife, two car seats, bikes and groceries. When the kids aren't in the car, I can beat pretty much any street racer off the line all day every day.

All of these I see snailing on highways behind a truck while passing by in my old can.๐Ÿ˜ Good to beat racers on the lights, but what about distance?

Lol I see a lot of slow Teslas too. I think a lot of them just driven by old farts trying to look young or eco-love clowns.

Anyways, anyone can set cruise control at 85 and sit in the left lane and drive until they're out of power/gas. But I've never been accused of driving slow.

"Going fast" is about taking turns and acceleration. With its ultra low center of gravity (thanks to its heavy battery on the bottom) and instant power on demand, it's an absolute beast at the autocross track if you change the rubber (stock tires are absolute trash).

My kids would throw up, so cutting corners isn't really my thing๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ We made a prompt calculation about car costs to fuel prices and definitely left expensive cars (talking about kids car for mama, so it shall suffer from the inside as well.) But I had my eye on Pacifica hybrid. However the tax in Europe makes it very expensive car๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I'm not a big fan of hybrids. Too complicated to maintain what's essentially two separate systems that have to work together. Too many things that can go wrong over time.

But if there's one good thing to be said about mini vans...

Pacifica has very interesting entertainment system. Kids can play together games and such. Also as you said, European "mini vans" are completely different league. We were laughing our butts off over the fact you can walk through this car๐Ÿ˜… It would make sense to use extra power just to move it swiftly around. But I'm now settled for old madmaxy can.โœŒ๏ธ

No shame in a beater! No doubt I've driven my fair share of them. Cars are a liability anyways.

Are you familiar with the word tuzing?๐Ÿ˜ It's left our culture already, but google the pictures and enjoy. #tuzing

Ahhhh yes! Form over function :)

Back in my younger years I owned a "ricer" (a tuned up asian import shitbox). Never heard the tuzing term before but well aware of the scene!

It's from czech, tuzemskรฝ means like local for our country or surroundings. And from that tuzing arised. Having old car with a shitton of exhausts and huge notfitting spoilers was a real deal.๐Ÿ˜€

I'm done with VW, well with #ล koda to be exact. We just turned back company's latest Octavia IV for it's the shittiest shitty car I've ever driven.๐Ÿคจ We're stuck with Saabs I guess. I exchanged the 1mil CZK ล koda for 50k SAAB 95 Aero from 2002 and the upgrade is uncanny.

My husbandโ€™s family really loves the Subaru Forester. We have one and I think across parents and brothers there are at least two more Foresters.

I myself have no strong preference for any particular cars ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ โ€ฆyet.

Toyota Auris petrol ICE. Mostly for the reliability ๐Ÿค™
