Chop apples and then sprinkle with cinnamon and then put in batter.
Put the apples into the batter ? I suppose if I am doing that , I would want to chop them quite finely ?

Yeah, skinned and fine. I prefer to bite into them, rather than shred or pulverize them into the batter.

Shredded is good too! Chopping them is labour intensive.
