Does religion discount the present for a promise of everlasting life in the future?

Trying to live by Christ’s example is the best way a person can live. You will flourish as a human the better you are at it - look to the saints to see endless examples of impoverished and persecuted people who are completely at peace and in love with the gift of existence.

Treating your life like the most precious resource will leave you unsatisfied until you die.

And if you’re wrong?

I’m not sure you got my point. Living a life for others is rewarding and treating your time like a resource will leave you empty always wanting more.

You don’t have to wait for the afterlife to see benefits.

Any of the 10k relgions have great wisdom.

Don't cast pearls before swine. A lover of mammon sees time as nothing more than a means to gain money, and to them, any time spent NOT gaining money is wasted.
