We are at the stage where Bitcoiners will rug themselves and those who they are onboarding to the custodial wallets ! Very sad that I have to deal and explain the basic principals of bitcoin and self custody to those who have been for a while in this space ! Also I stopped treating people a smart if they hold bitcoin !

Blixt,mutiny are also self custodial wallets but they are in the beta testing!
Zeus also will follow the same way by allowing you to run lightning node on your phone and self custody.
While the risks you mention are very real, I feel like onboarding is nuanced and context-dependent.
I started out with Bitcoin from Coinbase, but now it’s stamped in steel. Except for a few thousand sats on WoS and Alby for zapping, and a few in Phoenix for RoboSats bonds ⚡️😉
As long as you feel a sense of responsibility for the people you onboard (and live up to that responsibility), it’s not all bad.
