And it's very hard to develop good software if all your project manager looks at is how much of the budget you already used up. 🙄

This. They don't get how front-loaded QA is.

Nostr actually has the opposite problem. The users desperately want good software and are willing to pay hard money for it, but they can't find anyone willing to sell them some.

And the project managers are, like "THE BUDGET IS ENDLESS. TESTING IS FOR LOSERS."

🤦🏻‍♀️

Many years ago, I heard something like this: "always write your software in assumption that one of your end users will be a violent psycho who knows where you live".

Looking at e.g. NodeJS "ecosystem" I realized that, alas, there is a significant lack of such individuals from both sides of the process.

🤣 That is brilliant. And true.

I think people want to be a software developer because they think it's easy. You just sit down and type out some script and then everyone cheers you and you become a famous millionaire.

That it's actually a total unglamorous grind over an indefinite period of time and that you can end up spending 8 hours trying to track down an installation problem or weird bug or testing stuff that was working and is now broken and had to be fixed... they don't want to hear about that.

They're just here for the Dev Bling.

They be like "I'm a FOSS developer. 😎 "
