Many years ago, I heard something like this: "always write your software in assumption that one of your end users will be a violent psycho who knows where you live".

Looking at e.g. NodeJS "ecosystem" I realized that, alas, there is a significant lack of such individuals from both sides of the process.

🤣 That is brilliant. And true.

I think people want to be a software developer because they think it's easy. You just sit down and type out some script and then everyone cheers you and you become a famous millionaire.

That it's actually a total unglamorous grind over an indefinite period of time and that you can end up spending 8 hours trying to track down an installation problem or weird bug or testing stuff that was working and is now broken and had to be fixed... they don't want to hear about that.

They're just here for the Dev Bling.

They be like "I'm a FOSS developer. 😎 "
