GM! That’s the weakest 3D Mario game in my opinion, although I often give Sunshine a pass on criticism despite it being buggy and clunky. Odyssey was built with handheld play in mind, you can catch a few collectibles, turn off your device, go back to whatever you were doing, and return later to collect more. I really hated that.

That's seems kinda boring but I didn't know that, the game just looked overly silly to me so I never got it, I'm for sure not getting it. Is safe to say Mario 64 is the best 3D Mario ?
I think the best 3D Mario is Mario 3D World, but people don't often count that one for some reason. However, the character movement in 64 is unmatched to this day, I have no idea how Nintendo got it so right the first try, so much that they finally re-used his moves on Odyssey.
